“Teletrade” is made more user friendly from September 2007

When the “Teletrade” functionality was launched in February 2007 it operated on an “initiator” and “authoriser” concept. The ESC call centre agent “initiated” the transaction by taking the registered users instructions across the phone and then sending a sms to the registered cell phone. Thereafter the registered owner “authorised” the transaction by replying to the sms with their pin number.

Problems were experienced as some of the users weren’t able to send or receive sms’s. After thorough investigation by the system development team a decision was made to change the “Teletrade” functionality for the user not having to send a sms for authorisation.

From September 2007 when a registered user calls ESC with transaction instructions, the ESC operator will ask the caller a random selection of the pin number which will serve as the authorisation phase. The Teletrade operator then processes the transaction online. All calls are voice recorded and random tests are performed on a regular basis to verify that the recorded conversations equal the processed Teletrade transactions.
